The Software Engineer designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications related to avionics and aircraft systems.  They will participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and minimum 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a team lead or manager


Responsibilities
  • Play a role in enhancing and extending the software architecture of products.

  • Designs, develops, codes and documents applications following specifications using the appropriate tools.

  • Maintains and modifies existing applications on their own as well as under the direction from senior staff members.

  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to other staff members and customers

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in real-time development applications
  • Experience in simulation development a plus
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience with C and C++
  • Development knowledge in Windows. Experience with UNIX environment and/or MATLAB /SimuLink a plus
  • Experience in development of flight critical software a plus
  • Experience with system testing concepts, performance issues, and testing optimization
  • Able to assist with estimating task durations
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Able to work well with teams and individuals at all levels
  • Strong communication skills - interpersonal, oral and written
  • Strong desire to deliver excellent customer service and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Excellent time management skills, able to prioritize
  • 40% travel expected
