Job Location: Carlsbad, CA
L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Engineering Technician C to join our team on 1st shift. This position will be based at our Carlsbad, California facility. A Secret Clearance is reuired for this position.
Overall Summary:
This position requires the candidate to conduct tests on products and equipment. The Engineering Technician will record data from those tests and give that data to the product and engineering teams. The Engineering Technician will also interpret the quality standards, engineering diagrams, and specifications for the products, then execute tests according to those instructions.
In some cases, the Engineering Technician will be expected to offer ideas for how to improve testing processes or resolve equipment malfunctions. The Engineering Technician should possess high-level interpersonal communication skills. Keen attention to detail and organization skills are also a crucial part of this role to compile data and keep track of testing specifications.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Inspect components before and after assembly
- Test trial products during development
- Test finished goods
- Record testing data and analyze results to determine whether products meet quality standards
- Maintain testing methods and equipment
- Assemble and calibrate testing equipment
- Use testing data to recommend improvements to the production process
- Update test procedures and / or test scripts
- Ability to work without direct supervision (self-starter)
- Debug and troubleshooting skills.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Basic engineering and scientific knowledge
- Experience using mathematical concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, ratios, fractions, and proportions
- Ability to define problems verbally and in writing
- Experience analyzing data and drawing valid conclusions from that data
- Some MIDS/Link 16 radio experience (preferred)
- RF knowledge and advance electronics experience (preferred)
- Labview/Test stand experience (preferred)
- Basic soldering/micro-electronics component helpful
- Travel up to 25%
- EMI/EMC certification knowledge (preferred)
