Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced, dynamic Sr. Manager Systems Engineer/Solution Architect to provide technical and human resource leadership to our systems modeling and analysis team.  This role will work closely with Enterprise Architects, Chief Engineers, Business Development, and other program personnel to shape opportunities, define and advance architecture and requirements utilizing model-based approaches in support of the National Airspace System.

Essential Functions:

The primary responsibility of the leader in this role is tactical and strategic execution, model-based digital capture of architecture and requirements for new and existing capabilities.  This will require the following:

  • Providing support to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints,
  • Functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications,
  • Leveraging customer and domain knowledge to define business use cases,
  • Developing models and tools leveraging MATLAB, STK, and similar tool -including home-grown tools,
  • Capture digital thread information to show top to bottom traceability of requirements/compliance information,
  • Evaluation RFPs/RFIs and generating responses in collaboration with Business Development team,
  • Analyzing needs of the system and translating them into verifiable performance and design requirements,
  • Coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate,
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with 10 years of prior related experience;   In Lieu of degree, 16 years of systems experience.
  • 9+ years of ATCA (Air Traffic Control Association), FAA (Federal Aviation Association) systems, or NAS (National Airspace System) air traffic management industry experience.
  • 9+ years demonstrated experience in a Sr Systems, Sr Software Engineer, Systems Architect, or technical systems engineering manager overseeing large-scale low-latency, high-availability services.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Big-data analysis, AI/ML
  • Understanding of the System of Systems National Airspace System (NAS) architecture and its relation to the NAS functional and performance requirements
  • Prior work experience on a FAA NAS Program during the System Implementation phase of the AMS lifecycle and successful deployment/integration into the NAS
  • Experience with development of solutions into mixed on-premises and Cloud environments
  • Experience structuring and guiding mid- to upper-TRL research and development
  • Experience applying data analytics to enable risk-based decision making and efficient system operations
  • Experience/participation in FAA Collaborative Decision-Making forums and NextGen Advisory Committee/Sub-committees/Integrated Working Groups
  • Membership and/or participation in ATCA, ICNS or other ANSP-related organizations
